A {wicked} good time
yes. . yes .. i'm using that cheesy title that I already used once :)
just deal! :)
so Sunday night John and I were fortunate enough to go and see Wicked at the Opera House in Boston. it was A-mazing!!! seriously. I've had the soundtrack since. .hmmm. . .a while now (it was my 40 pounds lost present to myself) and so I pretty much knew all the songs.
The CD didn't come with a synopsis, which is odd.. . a little perusing of google yielded the information that the show itself contains parts that are NOT on the CD and that a synopsis would ruin *what turned out to be* some amazing surprises!!!!
Our seats were great. . .the opera house is pretty small. . but we were sitting in the orchestra section (right side) row R. . .didn't have ANY problems seeing anything at all.
The show itself was amazing. The costumes were great and the music was wonderful. We had stand-ins for Elphaba, Elphaba's mother. . and someone else. . . . my only criticism is that the girl who played Elphaba didn't have a super strong voice and was drowned out by Glinda at some points. . her solos were great though!!! the girl who played Glinda sounded VERY much like Kristin Chenoweth (the original broadway Glinda) and i just LOVE that character!! (surprise surprise :) )
I was surprised by how "different" the show is. It is billed as a musical. . and it is. . . sorta. . . the best example i could come up with is this. . if you listen to the broadway soundtrack from Rent you pretty much have a lot of the story. . . there's not a ton of extra dialogue. . but in Wicked. . it's MORE dialogue and less music/dancing. there are a lot of funny lines. . mostly from Glinda . . .one i can remember is "let that poor girl go. . and her little dog Dodo". . hehehe :)
anyway. . all in all it was pretty amazing. . john and i both loved it. . so if you have a chance you should definately check it out :)
in other news - rent's coming back to boston in June. . for some reason though i can't find tickets anywhere. . ticketmaster doesn't have it listed :(. I've seen it twice but john really wants to see it..... :( hopefully they'll show up soon!
oh! more news i accepted a new position here !!! YAY!!! i'll be working in a different department. . which brings a much needed change and the chance for career advancement!!! :) i'm excited but sad to be leaving this department....not a big fan of change!
oh AND. . .i was down 3.2 pounds at WW this week. . which is all the weight i've gained in the past 2 weeks woot :)
AND. . as i mentioned before my friend April's new business: MaggieMae Stamps launched. The stamps are A-MAZING. . seriously
i got a new set (that John keeps leaving at work!!!!) and i can't wait to play!!! i'm going to start posting some schtuff that i create with them here :) :)
so that's it. . fraggle OUT!!

Let me know when you hear how much tickets for Rent are. I still haven't seen that yet - either in the theatre OR in the movies!
I"m a crappy friend, who has let your blog fall to the wayside. Can you ever forgive me?

I'm so jealous that you got to see "Wicked." Darrell would never go to something like that with me.
And I checked out your schtuff!! Way cute!!! I'm gonna have to place an order!!! :)
